National Science and Technology Council   Committee on National Security Statement of Purpose

   The purpose of the CNS is to advise and assist the NSTC to increase the overall effectiveness and productivity of Federal efforts in national security research and development (R&D). The CNS will address the technical aspects of national policy, planning and administrative matters that cut across agency boundaries and shall provide a formal mechanism for interagency policy review, planning, and coordination, as well as exchanges of information regarding R&D required to maintain national security.
