The President' s Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) will meet in plenary session on Monday, February 22, 1999 in Washington, D.C. Key issues for discussion include the President' s budget for FY 2000, and the anticipated report from the President' s Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC).
The Committee will meet with Tom Kahn, of the House Budget Committee; Elgie Holstein, Associate Director of the Office of Management and Budget; Charles Larson of the Industrial Research Institute, Inc.; Al Teich of the American Association for the Advancement of Science; and Ken Kennedy of PITAC.
The PCAST was established by President Clinton in 1993, and includes distinguished individuals from industry, research institutions, and other non-governmental organizations. It is co-chaired by Neal Lane, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, and John Young, former President and CEO of Hewlett-Packard Company. The Committee serves as the highest level private sector group that advises the President on the Administration' s science and technology budgets and policies.
