OMB Dial-Up TCP/IP Configuration
Requirements
There are a number of items that must be available or installed
before a connection with the EOP LanRover is possible. A small
number of solutions have been tested, however, any operating system
and software package which satisfies the following requirements
should work.
Technical Requirements
Winsock.dll that meets 1.1 compliance.
TCP/IP protocol stack with Point-to-Point
Protocol (PPP) Support, including CHAP
(CHAP is an authentication protocol used by PPP to ease making connections.)
If the computer is on a LAN using an NIC (Network Interface
Card), the operating system must be able to have the networking
protocols working simultaneously on both the NIC and the modem.
A Hayes compatible modem. The supported data rates are from
9600 to 28800 bps with v.32, v.32bis, v.42, v.42bis, and v.FC.
A 14400 bps v.42bis modem or better is suggested.
EOP Security Requirements
EOP issued SecurID card, configured for the Shiva LanRover and
the ACE Server
A Shiva LanRover UserID. For OMB LAN registered users, this
will be their Novell LAN UserID (lastname_firstinitial), for external
agency users this will be the OMB UserID (AGYxxxx).
Tested Configurations
Microsoft Windows 3.1x using the NetManage Chameleon
TCP/IP 4.5.1 package available from the EOP
Microsoft Windows95
Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 3.5x
Internet
Note: Windows95 and Windows NT are known to work with both Ethernet and PPP based TCP/IP networking in use concurrently.
All configuration items listed
in the sections that follow are required. Any other configuration
items are site-specific.

After clicking on the CUSTOM icon in your Program Manager,
the screen shown in Figure 1.1 will be presented. In the Setup
drop-down menu, the parameters shown in Fig.1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 should
be set by default, but you may wish to verify the settings as
shown. Fig. 1.5 and 1.6 require your input.

After completion of configuration you are ready to dial the EOP
Shiva LanRover, necessary for connecting with the OMB Budget Database.
Please make sure you save your configuration settings.
The default settings are saved under TCPIP.CFG, however, when
you save your file, you may choose to perform a Save
As and name the configuration
file something more specific to you, for example, a11desxx.cfg,
where xx
may equal your initials.
To dial the EOP Shiva LanRover, single click Connect.
If your configuration is correct, upon choosing Connect,
you will see the Connect box with the number displayed. A second
box will appear, which is the CUSTOM Terminal. Within this
box, you will see characters placed by the dialer, such as AT
&C1 &D2...and so on.
Figure 1.16 represents the CUSTOM Terminal when a connection has
been made. It will read CONNECT #####. The value of #####
will depend on the speed negotiated by both sides of the connection.
In most cases, it will be equal to the value that you set in the
Port Settings (Figure 1.8, Baud Rate).
Once the connection is established, you will need to enter two
<returns>. Then you will be prompted for your UserID.
This is your OMB User ID. After entering UserID (agyxx##),
a prompt is presented for PASSCODE.
LanRover Authentication is discussed in detail on the following
pages.
Shiva LanRover Login Procedures
There are two forms of the Login procedure, the first being when
the user first logs in via the Shiva LanRover and is required
to set a secret PIN number, and the second being subsequent logins
with the PIN established.
In each of the procedures, if the user enters incorrect data or
if his/her account is not correctly setup, then he/she will receive
the ACCESS DENIED message from the Shiva LanRover. Three such
messages will lock a user out and requires a call to Client Services
to reset their account. The reason for the 3
strikes, you're out
is to protect your account from being compromised.
Each of the Login procedures begin their instructions once
the remote PC has connected to the Shiva LanRover's
modem. The sequence of steps that is required for Chameleon,
Win95, and WinNT to establish the modem connection differ. Only
the requirements for connecting with the Chameleon software are
illustrated here. It is appropriate to note that in each case,
the Authentication process is the same.

with the EOP, you may Alt-Tab to your program Manager and click
on the green Newt.
If you have a connection, you will see the screen detailed in
Figure 1.17. If you do not have a connection, the values will
be empty. At that point, you need to check your Domain Name and
User Name in the configuration settings. Make sure they are identical.
Also, make sure you have NO ENTRY in the Password field as shown
in Figure 1.11. Retry the connection process. If you still have
no connection, please call Client Services at 202-395-7370.
When you have completed your download/upload, and are ready to
disconnect from the EOP, Alt-Tab to the CUSTOM screen and select
Disconnect. You will be asked to verify that you want to
disconnect.

Internet Configuration
Version 6.0.0 of the MAX A-11 Data Entry Software has, built
in, the ability to use your Internet connection to communicate
with the EOP LanRover for OMB Database access.
There are some items of information that you will need to coordinate
with your local Technical Support Staff prior to configuration.
They are as follows:
Do you use a modem to access the Internet? _________________________________________
Do you have a Firewall?_________________________________________________________
If so, what is the DNS name of your Firewall?________________________________________
What is the exit Port number for your Firewall?______________________________________
What is the Relay your Firewall uses to communicate with your LAN or PC? i.e. Telnet Authentication, etc.__________________________________________________
What is the command sequence required for you to communicate through your Firewall? ____________________________________________________________________________
What is the location of your Hosts
file?___________________________________________
The answers to these questions will be used at the time of
installation and configuration of your MAX A-11 Data Entry Software.
You need to have the answers to these questions
before installing your software.
In addition, this information is only available to your organization.
The EOP recognizes that this information is sensitive and unique
to your Agency. It is in no way accessible over the Internet.
